Registration for The Virtual High School Spring 2020 Semester is Now Open

Boston — Dec. 17, 2019The Virtual High School (VHS, Inc.) announced today that registration for the spring 2020 semester is now open. Interested schools, students and parents can go to https://go.vhslearning.org/getstarted2020 to access a wide variety of more than 200 unique courses, including computer science, social studies, science, and engineering offerings. Flexible credit recovery options are also available. All courses are offered within VHS’s unique global online classroom environment that helps students develop college and career readiness skills and gives them access to more learning choices. The spring 2020 semester begins January 29.

In the spring 2020 semester, students can choose from unique and interesting online courses covering everything from mathematics to business to the arts. For students with an interest in literature and culture, Ghoulies, Ghosties, and Long-Legged Beasties is a literature analysis course where they will explore how literature has addressed and affected the multi-faceted question of what happens after humans die. Students will investigate and interpret different perspectives on the afterlife by reading a variety of literature and writing essays on multiple genres.

Students who want to explore STEM topics can begin learning about climate change and the effects of greenhouse gases in Climate Science, an honors STEM course that helps students better understand Earth as a dynamic system and then challenges them to evaluate how certain factors impact Earth’s delicate systems. Students research and evaluate a climate change impact story of their choice and learn how to communicate about climate issues in meaningful ways.

“One of the most exciting things about our VHS program is the unique courses we offer. These interesting and unusual courses spark student interest and help them stay engaged in their learning. Students can choose courses that not only pique their personal interests but help them discover possible future career paths. Due to the global nature of our online, teacher-led classrooms, VHS courses also help students develop collaboration, communication and self-advocacy skills essential for college, careers, and life. Our courses supplement and strengthen local school offerings, giving students more choices.” said Carol Ribeiro, President & CEO of VHS. “When schools incorporate the VHS course catalog into their local program of studies, they expand student options and give students the ability to customize their academic plan with engaging and collaborative learning opportunities that fit their individual needs.”
