Boston — Dec. 5, 2018 — The Virtual High School (VHS Inc.), is offering courses for the spring 2019 semester that hone students’ college and career readiness skills and expand learning opportunities. This spring students can access a wide variety of unique courses, including Advanced Placement® (AP®) social studies, math, language arts, science and other STEM subjects. All courses are offered within The Virtual High School’s unique global online classroom environment. Course enrollment for the 2019 spring semester will close January 23.
The Virtual High School is a non-profit organization that empowers schools with the industry’s best online learning programs by working to give all students equal access to courses that engage, inspire, and prepare them for college and careers. VHS offers more than 200 courses, including over 20 AP ® courses that can help students receive college credit.
In the Spring 2019 semester, students can choose from unique and interesting online courses covering everything from mathematics to the arts. For students with a musical interest, Music Fundamentals is a hands-on music composition course where students learn about melodies, harmonies, and more through the creation of their own musical masterpieces. In this creative course, students collaborate with their classmates to fine tune their work.
Students who want to explore STEM courses can begin learning about computer science with Creative Programming with Scratch, an introductory-level course that does not require a background in coding. Students progress from programming simple shapes to developing a full portfolio of their own art stories and games.
“Our courses are designed to help students personalize their learning through course choice. With over 200 unique courses, our engaging learning experiences supplement local school offerings,” said Carol Ribeiro, President & CEO of VHS. “When a school incorporates The Virtual High School’s catalog into its program of studies student options are instantly expanded, giving students the opportunity to customize their course plan to fit their individual needs and interests.”
