Middle States Association Appoints The Virtual High School President & CEO as New Commissioner
Boston — Oct. 30, 2017 — The Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) recently announced the appointment of four new commissioners, including Carol Ribeiro, President & CEO of The Virtual High School (VHS, Inc.), a non-profit organization empowering schools with the industry’s best online learning programs.
“I’m very pleased to have been elected as a commissioner with the Middle States Association,” said Ribeiro, “and I look forward to helping drive continuous educational improvement both in the United States and internationally.”
Since 1887 MSA has been a leader in promoting educational quality. The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) is a nongovernmental, non-profit, peer-administered organization. The Commission works directly with public and private schools as well as non-degree granting programs and special purpose schools and educational institutions, including distance learning providers. As one of its commissioners, Ribeiro will make decisions on the accreditation of institutions of elementary and secondary education and help form commission policies. MSA-CESS accredits 2800 schools across the United States and in nearly 100 countries.
Like MSA, VHS believes every child deserves access to a quality education regardless of their geographic location or economic circumstance. VHS design and delivery standards are the model used by the National Education Association in their recommended standards for online learning. The Virtual High School is an accredited, NCAA-approved, nationally recognized non-profit organization with a 20+ year history providing quality online and blended education to more than 600 schools across the United States and around the world.
